Hunters Point Power Plant Closure
Project Vision
San Francisco, CA
The Hunters Point Power Plant Closure Project was undertaken to decommission and remediate the former power generation facility while supporting environmental restoration and future redevelopment opportunities for the Bayview-Hunters Point community. The project represented a major milestone in San Francisco’s transition away from industrial waterfront uses and helped pave the way for long-term community revitalization, environmental improvement, and economic development within the surrounding neighborhood.
JBR Partners, Inc. served as a key community engagement and outreach consultant during the closure, demolition, and remediation of the Hunters Point Power Plant. Working closely with PG&E, community leaders, labor advocates, and local stakeholders, the team helped facilitate public engagement, develop Project Advisory Committees, and support community workshops throughout the process. JBR also helped advance local hiring initiatives during the deconstruction and redevelopment phases, creating opportunities for Bayview-Hunters Point residents and helping establish workforce participation practices that would influence future City projects.
